Cory has been fly fishing and fly tying since he was 7 years old. At this very early age, in the Catskills of NY, his father taught him traditional fly fishing, as well as the fundamentals of nymphing for trout without a fly line (better known today as Euro Nymphing). It was on the banks of the Beaverkill River that he developed a passion for trout fishing and became a student of the sport.
To this day, he’s always working on his craft … always striving to get better.
Whether it is fly tying or Euro Nymphing, he likes to pass on what he’s learnt from our wonderful sport.
Earlier this month I sat down (virtually) with Cory, and mutual friend Trevor, to discuss all things ‘nymphing’.
Cory Cuje shares his journey in nymph fishing and the transition from casual to skilled fishing, focusing on Euro nymphing techniques. His Background in Fly Fishing – Cory shares his fly fishing beginnings, starting at age seven under his father’s guidance on the Beaverkill River. His early techniques involved tight-lining with worms before transitioning to nymphs, which formed the basis for his skills in Euro nymphing.
